I have more than 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist supporting couples, families, and individuals who are seeking healing and greater joy and peace in their lives. I strongly believe in the capacity for everyone to improve their quality of life and to develop a more positive relationship with their own Self and others. As a therapist, I am honored to support the journey of inner exploration and healing, and seek to be a mirror of each person’s best Self.
My therapeutic practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other clinical theories. I also utilize ecopsychology (therapy in nature), therapeutic writing, and iRest meditation, a well-researched alternative healing modality that can be used for chronic pain, insomnia, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Every person, partnership, and family is unique, and I draw from these approaches to personalize care according to what will be most helpful and healing in each circumstance.
Over the course of my career, I have provided therapy to people with diverse lived experiences, from parents and organizational leaders, to healthcare workers, refugees, and veterans. I have also worked in higher education as an Associate Dean for Hamilton College and as a Coordinator of the Threat Risk and Crisis team for a large university. I am a published author and psychoeducational lecturer.
I hold Master degrees in both Counseling Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy, and am “all but dissertation” for my PhD in Child and Family Studies from Syracuse University. I am currently licensed to practice in New York, Washington D.C., North Carolina, and South Carolina.
In my downtime, I enjoy yoga, traveling, reading, sharing time with friends and family, and exploring the great outdoors—hiking, biking, playing tennis, kayaking, and gardening.
