I provide empirically validated psychotherapy, both in-person and through telehealth. I strongly believe in a holistic, mind/body/spirit/heart approach. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Strength Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Bowen Theory. Each of these models helps to create a strong understanding of how a person’s thoughts and beliefs, family of origin’s patterns, cultural and societal norms, and past and present experiences contribute to their lived experience, both individually and in relationships. Gottman’s Relationship model is very helpful when working with couples and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is invaluable for people who are looking for skills to help with emotional regulation.
Along with greater insight, these proven approaches offer specific skills, tools, and shifts in thoughts, beliefs, and behavior that can greatly increase a person’s sense of well-being. Please feel free to ask me more about these theories and my personal approach to therapy.
Our first session (initial intake) will be 80 minutes long. Following sessions are typically 60 minutes.
I provide both in-person and telehealth therapy and use a HIPPA-compliant telehealth video platform called Simple Practice that is fully confidential.
All online sessions are conducted through Simple Practice, a HIPAA-compliant video platform. Simple Practice uses bank-level encryption to keep sessions fully secure and confidential. For your session, it will be helpful to find a private space in your home that is quiet and free of distractions. Consider wearing headphones if there is any background noise. This can make it easier for us to hear one other.
There is no set time frame for how long therapy will last. For some people, a few sessions may address a pressing, situational issue. For more significant concerns, therapy can extend over months and even years. This is a personal decision that is made once goals are set and therapy has begun. For couples, I recommend committing to at least six months of therapy to allow for deeper change to happen. I am happy to discuss what might be most beneficial for you during our initial consultation or at any point during the time we work together.
I’ve been told that I have a warm, approachable, empathic presence as a therapist. I believe that the fit between therapist and client is an important part of the success of therapy, which is why I am happy to offer a free 15-minute consultation prior to us scheduling the first appointment. We will work together to build a comfortable, trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to explore your emotions, thoughts, and experiences.
Yes, I am happy to work hand-in-hand with your psychiatrist, nutritionist, doctor, educational coach or other wellness provider to provide the best and most comprehensive care.
My fees ranges from $150 to $250, depending on the type and length of session. Insurance will often cover part or all of the fee as an out-of-network benefit. I am happy to provide documentation ("a superbill") for you to submit to insurance for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to learn more about your specific benefits.
I believe in the importance of providing equitable access to therapeutic care. If you are facing financial challenges, please reach out to discuss your circumstance and the possibility of sliding scale fees.
I am not in network with any plan. However, many insurance providers will reimburse you for my services. I am happy to provide documentation (commonly known as a "superbill") if you wish you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network benefit coverage or to use for your health spending account (HSA). The amount that each health insurance plan covers varies so you will need to call your insurance company to find out the specifics of your plan. As a courtesy, I am happy to submit insurance claims electronically for you. The insurance company will still pay you directly for whatever amount your health insurance covers.
I accept cash, personal checks, or credit cards.
I respectfully request 24-hours notice for appointment cancellations. For any cancellations within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment, you will be charged in full. I do offer courtesy exceptions to this policy for extenuating circumstances, such as illness or weather emergencies.
If this is a medical or psychological emergency, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
I am available from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursdays. I will check my voice messages and emails frequently throughout the day and respond as quickly as I can. Please feel free to leave a voice message up until 10 pm and on the weekends, but I will not respond to these until the next business day, unless there is an urgent need.
Again, if this is an emergency, please do not wait for me to respond to a voice message, text, or email and go to the nearest emergency room.
